The RTNR Flood recovery fund

The first tiny home constructed in South Lismore.

For those who donated to our flood recovery fund, here's a quick breakdown of where the funds went (amounts are approximate):

– $103,000 to the Container of Dreams tiny home project for flood affected residents. The first was constructed a few weeks back in South Lismore
(see image above)
- $3000 to cleaning products
- $3000 to urgent medical supplies
- $1000 to fuel for generators & helicopters
- $4000 to food (incl fresh fruit & veg and butcher vouchers)
- $20,000 at Bunnings (gurneys, a generator, gas cookers, camp chairs, supply centre resources like shelving & tables and more)

In addition to this $15,000 has been put aside after discussion with a donor to be put towards flood mitigation using nature-based solutions & regenerative practices in riparian zones. We’ll be focussing primarily on the implementation of nature-based solutions to address future flooding, as well as pushing for more innovative, creative and considered urban planning as we move into a more volatile climate.

The recovery has only just begun and we hope the Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation (NRRC) can begin to effectively address the complex issues facing our region. The future that scientists have been predicting for decades is here – it’s time we started planning effectively for it.

We'd like to express our gratitude to all who donated - we couldn't have done it without you!
